Charity of the Year
Paddock Wood Bowls Club is proud to support Compaid as our Charity of the Year.
For over 38 years, Compaid has supported disabled people in and around Kent to realise their potential.
Today they are the largest disability charity in the county, supporting over 1,800 disabled and vulnerable people every year. Their services are available to anyone with a physical or learning disability, as well as those with sensory or communication difficulties, or age related conditions.
Their services are designed to help disabled and other vulnerable people to overcome the barriers of social, digital and economic exclusion. The work of our trained staff and volunteers is tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual we support.
We are proud to say PWBC is Compaid's largest local supporter and since they has been our Charity of the Year £3,259 has been raised to support them for which they are very grateful.
In January 2025 a number of our members visited Compaid to understand the work they do supporting local people with learning disabilities.
Compaid is a member of the Community Transport Association, Kent CAN, Advice Together and Advice Partnership East Kent.

Compaid are always looking to recruit additional volunteers. Here are a couple of roles they are keen to fill:
Volunteer Drivers: We are looking for volunteer drivers to join our busy transport team.
You will be driving our specially adapted minibuses of up to 16 seats, or smaller wheelchair adapted vehicles to take vulnerable adults on prearranged journeys e.g to hospital appointments and shopping trips, helping them to remain as independent as possible.
We would also welcome ad hoc volunteer drivers to step in during instances of sickness, holidays, or other unforeseen needs.
We are particularly looking for drivers on any weekday except Thursday.
Drivers must be aged over 21 with an upper age limit of 70 years, for insurance purposes with a full clean driving licence held for a minimum of 2 years with category D1 101 included.
